Bishop Tommy Powell

State Overseer / Administrative Bishop

A native of Albany, Georgia, Bishop Tommy Powell has served in ministry for over four decades and has been credentialed with the Church of God for forty-four years. He is a graduate of Westover High School (1977), the Church of God Ministerial Internship Program, Lee University, and the Pentecostal Theological Seminary.

Bishop Powell began full-time ministry as an evangelist in 1982, serving as state evangelist in both Georgia and Virginia. He transitioned to pastoral ministry in 1983, leading churches for nearly 30 years—including 15 years at The Church at Griffin in Georgia.

In 2012, he was appointed Administrative Bishop and Regional Overseer of the Rocky Mountain Region (Colorado, Utah, Wyoming). He later served as Administrative Bishop of Missouri for six years and most recently led the state of Michigan following his appointments at the 2022 and 2024 General Assemblies.

His ministry has taken him across the U.S. and into fourteen countries, where he has ministered in camp meetings, prayer conferences, and national conventions. Bishop Powell has served on numerous state and international boards, including the Youth and Discipleship Board, Evangelism and Home Missions Board, State Council, Church of God Chaplains Commission, Publications Board, and currently the World Missions Board.

He and his wife Jessica have two children—Trey (married to Monte) and Tori (married to Jacob)—and three grandchildren: Sawyer Lavonne, Skyler Lincoln, and Kai Thomas.

Dr. Shane B. Stone

Youth & Discipleship Director

For more than two decades, Dr. Shane Stone has faithfully served in various pastoral and leadership roles within the Church of God, ministering in South Carolina and Virginia as a children’s pastor, student ministries pastor, executive pastor, and lead pastor. He is also a church planter, having successfully launched and organized two Church of God congregations—one in 2007 and another in 2018. Before his current role in Mississippi, Dr. Stone served as the State Youth and Discipleship Director for the Church of God in Iowa and Nebraska.

Dr. Stone holds a Doctor of Strategic Leadership (DSL) from Regent University (Virginia Beach, VA), a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Leadership from Lee University (Cleveland, TN), and a Bachelor of Science in Christian Education from Andersonville Baptist Seminary (Camilla, GA).

An Ordained Bishop in the Church of God (Cleveland, TN), Dr. Stone has also served as a member of the South Carolina State Youth and Discipleship Board, as well as a District Overseer and District Youth Director.

Married to his wife, Candace, for 26 years, Dr. Stone is the proud father of six children. He enjoys traveling with his family, all things Disney, watching wrestling, and spending time with his golden-doodle, Bowman.

Bishop J. Don Hooper

Evangelism Director

Don Hooper is a second-generation Church of God minister and a proud native of Mississippi. He currently serves as the Evangelism Director for the Church of God in Mississippi, where he leads statewide efforts to equip and mobilize believers to share the Gospel and reach the lost. With a passion for soul-winning and a heart for the local church, Don has dedicated his life to advancing the Kingdom of God.

An ordained bishop and seasoned church planter, Don has faithfully served as the Lead Pastor of Destiny Church for the past 14 years. Under his leadership, more than 500 individuals have made decisions for Christ, a testament to his commitment to life-changing ministry and discipleship. His influence extends across the state through various leadership roles he has held since 2007, including State Evangelist, member of the Evangelism and Youth Boards, and ten years of service on the State Council.

Beyond the pulpit, Don is a graduate of Mississippi State University and brings a unique blend of ministry and marketplace experience as an entrepreneur, CEO, consultant, and college professor. His ability to develop leaders and encourage growth in both spiritual and professional arenas reflects his holistic approach to ministry.

Don and his wife, Teressa, have been married for 32 years and are the proud parents of their son, Hunter. As a family, they enjoy traveling, hiking, and making lifelong memories together.

Rev. Jessica Powell

State Women's Ministries Director

Jessica Powell has faithfully served in ministry alongside her husband, Bishop Tommy Powell, for over four decades. Since their marriage in 1981, she has supported his evangelistic, pastoral, and administrative assignments across multiple states and regions, including Georgia, Virginia, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Missouri, and Michigan.

Jessica is a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, whose quiet strength and unwavering support have shaped their family and ministry. While raising their two children—Trey and Tori—Jessica remained active in local church ministry, offering hospitality, encouragement, and leadership both behind the scenes and in the pulpit. Today, she continues to pour into their growing family, which now includes three beloved grandchildren: Sawyer, Skyler, and Kai.

Known for her kindness and grace, Jessica is deeply committed to the Church of God and holds credentials as a minister. She has been a steady presence throughout her husband’s ministerial journey, including international ministry in fourteen countries. Her heart for people and the local church remains evident in every place they serve.

Rev. Candace Stone

State Girls Ministries Coordinator

Candace has served in ministry roles since she was a teenager and met her husband at Lee University in Cleveland, TN. They were married in 1998 and have six children. Hannah Bailey (Rob), Gracie Black (Matthew), Hayden (17), Gannon (12), Hattie (9), and Maverick (5). The Stones are proud to have two grandchildren in addition to their large family.

Candace is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in leadership from Lee University and is an Ordained Minister in the Church of God. She has been a member of the Lee University Singers and has served on State Music Committees, including as Chairperson of the State Music Committee in Iowa and Nebraska.

The Stones have served as State Youth Directors, District Overseers, District Youth Directors, Lead Pastors, Church Planters, and Youth and Children's Pastors in South Carolina and Virginia.
